Shakira Hansley Ellerson

Shakira Hansley Ellerson, a Philadelphia native, currently serves as the Director of Policy and Advocacy at Voices for Children Coalition with CASA Youth Advocates, leading an advocacy coalition dedicated to comprehensive system changes for the well-being of children. Shakira holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of the District of Columbia Law School and a Bachelor’s in Sociology.

Before delving into policy work, her professional background includes roles as a Social Services Advocate at the Defender Association of Philadelphia, Law Clerk at the DC Children’s Law Center, and Senior Case Supervisor at CASA Youth Advocates.

In her spare time, Shakira enjoys exploring culinary experiences and playing tennis.
