The National Bar Association Women Lawyers Division, Philadelphia Chapter (WLD) extends an invitation for you to join, or return to, this dynamic organization and interact with women of color who share your mission, vision and values! The WLD is a professional organization that offers support to women of color as they travel along their career path. The WLD nominates African American attorneys for several awards and/or honors and will continue in this endeavor. In 2011, the WLD prepared and successfully nominated more than 20 members for awards and recognition. Members were included in the Philadelphia Tribune’s March 2011 insert, the Legal Intelligencer in its Diversity Issue and Lawyers on the Fast Track Award. WLD members have regularly appeared in the Legal Intelligencer in recognition of their professional accomplishments. The WLD conducts CLE courses with accomplished women such as Charisse Lillie of Comcast and Lorinna Marshall Blake of Blue Cross/Blue Shield. The organization, in conjunction with the ABA's Community Outreach Program, presented a 7-part real estate course. The fee for WLD members was $90.00 (10.5 CLE, including 1.5 Ethics); $360 for others. The WLD is in the process of developing practical legal workshops (i.e., How to Become a Judge, How to Start Your Own Firm, How to Become a Partner in a Law Firm) in collaboration with the National Bar Association Judicial Council, Clifford Scott Green Chapter. The WLD has continued to be a positive force in the community through its Annual Toy Drive, Adopt-A-Family and other events. In 2011, the WLD added a book and school supply drive to our community outreach efforts. In the upcoming program year, with your support, the WLD will continue to strive to advance diversity in the legal profession by assisting its members in forming professional networks, serving as a public voice through its outreach and scholarship programs, continuing legal education seminars, and community service programs. WLD will continue dialogues with a variety of bar association with respect to increasing minority presence. Take a moment and join this dynamic organization!
